Food and Dining

Authentic Mexican Coastal Cuisine

Delicious meals are prepared daily using only fresh ingredients and our tortillas are hand made daily. We offer a variety of dishes ranging from locally caught seafood to vegetarian dishes. Meals are served family style and you can eat as much as you like.

Our meals are a constant source of positive compliments by the majority of our guests. At the same time, we recognize that it’s hard to please each and every guest when it comes to food, yet we strive to do everything we can to meet guests dietary needs no matter how uncommon the diet.

Our palapa hosts a sit down dining area, stocked bar, and warm lighting to round off the atmosphere. If you are on a diet…good luck! To wrap up the trip, we host a clam bake and oyster roast — a relaxed and delicious way to celebrate your time at the lagoon.

Allergies and Dietary Restrictions

We can accommodate a wide range of dietary needs with advance notice. Whether you're vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, pescatarian or have other specific requirements, just let us know and our team will prepare something special for you. Over the years, we’ve expanded our vegetarian and vegan offerings in response to guest feedback and are happy to do the same for any dietary preference. On your Reservation Form there is an opportunity to let us know your preferences.

Fresh, Flavorful, and Made with Care

Dining at Campo Cortez is all about gathering together for great food and good company. Our meals are prepared fresh each day using quality, locally sourced ingredients—and yes, the tortillas are handmade daily. Our salsa and guacamole are made fresh every day using local produce whenever possible. Fish is sourced from nearby fishermen, and our oysters come straight from San Ignacio Lagoon.

Whether you're sitting down for a hearty breakfast, a casual lunch, or winding down with a sunset dinner and happy hour, there’s always something satisfying on the table.

A typical day looks something like this:

  • Pre-Breakfast – 6:00 am to 6:30 am:
Hot coffee, tea, fruit, cereal and yogurt are ready early for the early risers.
  • Breakfast – 8:00 am:
Think Mexican-style eggs, huevos rancheros, hot cakes, chilaquiles, and always rice, beans, and tortillas on the side.
  • Lunch – 12:00 pm:
Guests love our fish tacos, quesadillas with lentil soup, chile rellenos, and calabacitas. We also serve a range of soups and hearty stews with fresh veggies and seafood.
  • Happy hour – 5:00 pm:
Margaritas, cold beer, jamaica (hibiscus flower tea), fresh guacamole, house-made salsa, and chips—with a perfect view of the sun setting over the lagoon.
  • Dinner – 6:00 pm:
Dinner brings a rotating menu of chicken mole, fresh-caught seafood, bistek ranchera and veggie sides. There's always a mix of Baja-style favorites and home-cooked comfort food.

Snacks, fruit, and beverages (including sodas and beer) are available throughout the day, and the central palapa is always a welcoming place to recharge, swap stories, and enjoy a meal with a view.
